OPTIONAL SCHOOLS WEBSITE

• Transfers are available for all 45 competitive, theme-based Optional schools.
• All Optional schools have entrance requirements.
• Current MSCS students will need to use their PowerSchool Student Number.
• Non-MSCS students will be requested to enter their Social Security Number.
• PRIORITY WINDOW: Applications received by 11:59 p.m. on January 31, 2025 are processed first.
• Applications are processed in the order received (within priority categories), unless the number of applications exceed available spaces; applications are digitally stamped with date/time.
• If any Optional program has more applications than available space on January 31, 2025, a lottery is implemented. The first 80 percent are processed in the order received (within priority categories), and 20 percent are chosen by lottery.
• After January 31,2025, applications are processed in the order received. Find entrance requirements and additional information for all Optional programs at scsk12.org/optional/.

Black/African-American - A person having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa.

Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander - A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, or other Pacific Islands.

White - A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa.

IMPORTANT: Once you enter a second request, you will not be able to remove having a second request. Also, please note that if you enter a second request, the student may receive a transfer to the second request if he/she does not receive a transfer to the first request. The student will not be placed on a waiting list if he/she receives a transfer to a first request or second request. If the student does not receive a transfer to the first or second request, he/she will be placed on the waiting list of the first request only. If a new application is submitted, all previous applications will become null and void.
