• Current MSCS parents should use their child’s PowerSchool ID/Student Number. Non-MSCS parents should use a SSN.
• Don’t know your PowerSchool ID/Student Number? Check your child’s report card, contact your student's school or call 416-5300.
• All required fields (*) must be completed.
• Every application is electronically stamped with date and time of submission.
• If you submit more than one application, only the most recent will be processed.
• GENERAL CHOICE RENEWALS: Students zoned for a school or on a current approved transfer do NOT have to reapply.
• OPTIONAL SCHOOLS RENEWALS: Students currently on transfer must complete a renewal form at their school.
• Hollis F. Price, Medical District High School, Memphis Virtual School and Middle College High School all have additional entrance requirements and parents must upload documents as part of the General Choice application for these schools.
• Campus School, University Middle and University High are considered as part of their own school district and all have separate application requirements, please contact the school for additional information regarding enrollment.

Chronic Absenteeism

Chronic absenteeism is a measure of how much school a student misses for any reason (including excused or unexcused absences.)  If your student misses 10% or 18 days for the school year, he/she will be identified as a chronically absent student. During the 2025-2026 school year, your student’s attendance will be closely monitored under the General Choice Transfer. 

You must use the ID number which MSCS has on file for your child. If you are unsure of the number, please check with your child's school.

All students who reside outside of TN will be required to pay tuition upon enrolling in Memphis Shelby County Schools. Policy #6002

IMPORTANT: Once you enter a second request, you will not be able to remove having a second request. Also, please note that if you enter a second request, the student may receive a transfer to the second request if he/she does not receive a transfer to the first request. The student will not be placed on a waiting list if he/she receives a transfer to a first request or second request. If the student does not receive a transfer to the first or second request, he/she will be placed on the waiting list of the first request only.

• A copy of student’s most recent Attendance report.
• A copy of student’s Discipline report.
• A copy of student’s most recent standardized Test results. (Ex: MAPS, TCAP, End of Course Algebra I and/or Biology)
• 3 Letters of Recommendation (Must be administrator, counselor, and teacher)
• All interested applicants must have the desire and commitment to excel. Therefore, applicants are mandated to read one of the two selected books: “Heart of a Champion” by Carl Deuker or “The Road to Paris” by Nikki Grimes.
• Students will not be eligible for an interview until all documents are submitted to Hollis F. Price Middle College.

After submitting Memphis Shelby County Schools General Choice Transfer Application, applicants will need to upload the required documents into application:

• A copy of most recent 2024-2025 report card for 9th Graders.
• A copy of student’s most recent Attendance report.
• A copy of school discipline record.
• A copy of high school transcript for 10th-12th Graders.
• ACT Scores *required for 11th and 12th Graders.
• Optional: ACT Scores (if applicable). Students who score a 19 or higher on the ACT will be eligible to take Dual Enrollment Courses.
• A 1-2 page essay that answers the following question: “How will the Early College program help you fulfill your dreams?”
• Students/Parents are responsible for sending the Recommendation Form link to your Principal/Administrator or Counselor. See the link below

• A copy of most recent 2022-2023 report card.
• A copy of school discipline record.
• A 1-2 page essay that answers the following question: “How will Mt. Pisgah High help you fulfill your dreams?”
• A reference from a teacher, an administrator, or a counselor will be required. The school will provide the reference form after submission of the General Choice Transfer application.
• Two (2) references are required: Students/Parents are responsible for sending the Recommendation form link to your Principal/Administrator and Counselor.
