I acknowledge my status as a non-exempt employee of Canton Public School District. My pay is based on an hourly rate. If I work more than 40 hours in a workweek, I will be compensated at one and one-half times my regular rate of pay. I have been provided a letter of employment at the beginning of each school year indicating my rate of pay and method of payment.

It is expressly agreed and understood that my employment is at-will and may be terminated by either party for any reason without prior notice or without further obligation on the part of either party. However, I understand that, whenever possible, I will provide two weeks of advance notice to terminate employment. I also understand that no statement made by district personnel or information contained in handbooks or other documents will change the employment relationship described herein.

I understand that when I am off the clock, I should not be at my workstation.

Each work week stands alone. For example, I understand that I cannot work 45 hours in one work week and reduce the next work week by 5 hours to avoid overtime. I will be compensated through pay or leave for each week I work over 40 hours. The Canton Public School District work week starts on Sunday and ends on Saturday. I also understand that I may be offered compensatory time at a rate of one and one-half times my regular leave rate in lieu of pay if it is agreed upon in advance of overtime hours worked.

If I am asked to perform duties off the clock by my supervisor, I will immediately contact upper management within the district.

My lunch break should be free and clear of interruptions. If I am interrupted or asked to work during my lunch break, I will request in writing to my supervisor that I receive compensation.

In accordance with Senate Bill 2761, you have been authorized by the Mississippi Department of Finance and Administration to receive a procurement card to use in your classroom to purchase classroom supplies, instructional materials and instructional equipment. You must be a state or locally funded certificated teacher to be eligible to receive a card. For the 2024-2025 school year, you have been awarded $740. You may start spending immediately and no activation is required. The deadline for spending is March 31, 2025.

Education Enhancement Funds (EEF) are considered “state” funds that are directly appropriated to you. Although you receive funds directly, the card is not for personal use. Each purchase you make on the card should be made on behalf of Canton Public School District (CPSD). Before receipt of the card, you must sign a Teacher Cardholder Agreement accepting responsibility for the proper protection and use of the card.

The following are examples of EEF purchases that are allowed and not allowed:

Allowed:

1. Any purchase of instructional supplies and materials;
2. Computers to be used by you or your students for instruction
3. Stands or tables for computers
4. File cabinets
5. Pencil sharpeners
6. Equipment used in instruction (TVs, DVDs, Projectors, etc.)
7. Maps and globes

Not Allowed:

1. General cleaning supplies
2. Air fresheners, deodorizers, facial tissue or hand sanitizer
3. Teacher desks or chairs
4. First aid kits
5. Personal Items such as clothing, brief cases, or waste baskets
6. Gasoline for personal or rental vehicles
7. Cash advances
8. Travel, meals, movies, food or beverages
9. Items purchased for supplemental duties (coaching or club sponsorship)
10. Alcohol

Your EEF card activity may be reviewed online at any time by the MS Department of Education or by CPSD Program Coordinators. You must keep all receipts for a minimum of five (5) years for state audit purposes (copies are acceptable). You must also make every effort to ensure that all Mississippi purchases are tax exempt. Any equipment purchased on the card belongs to CPSD and must be booked into our fixed asset inventory, if applicable. If your employment with the district ends for any reason you must return the card immediately. Failure to adhere to card guidelines may result in suspension or termination of card privileges or other disciplinary action including restitution and criminal prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.

The electronic signature and its related fields are treated by Canton PSD like a handwritten signature on a paper form.
